A LOOK @ BUMBLE STYLING PRODUCTS
These hairstyles were achieved with the help of 1. styling lotion 2. styling creme 3. thickening hairspray
Today we’re looking at Bumble’s styling line, including styling lotion, styling creme and thickening hairspray. These three products are used best on damp hair and will help you manage or maintain your ideal look.
STYLING LOTION:
- A highly potent, versatile styling option for control, body building or sleekness, plus a nourishing moisturizer which leaves the hair soft with natural movement.
- Who: Anyone; a good choice for fine, frequently styled, fragile or chemically treated hair. When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion and before heated tools. How: Spray on damp hair evenly by sections; work through and style.
STYLING CREME:
- Love it for its versatility and simple strength - slick back, add body, lift roots or define curl. The more you use, the more it holds - wet or dry.
- Who: Anyone. When: After Prep or Tonic Lotion and before styling. How: Work through damp hair and style; use it with heat (like a mousse) to create manageable volume, or without (like a gel) for control.
THICKENING HAIRSPRAY:
- Helps fine hair achieve styling lift-off, but also works wonders on any hair type - thick, thin, or otherwise.
- Who: Anyone. When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion and before heated tools (or any sort of setting). How: Spray on damp hair evenly by sections; work through and style.
A LOOK @ BUMBLE STYLING PRODUCTS/WAX
These looks were achieved with 1. sumotech 2. sumowax 3. styling wax
Today we’re looking at some of Bumble and Bumble’s styling products, specifically those in the wax family. You’ve seen those cute little jars full of amazingness… now let’s take a moment to find out more about which products are right for you and your do.
SUMOTECH:
- It’s not a wax, not a paste and not a creme, but a midweight moulding compound that’s a combination of all three (and a miracle of modern technology).
- Who: Anyone; a natural for short hair; won’t overwhelm fine hair; perfect for highly textural cuts. When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion; use on damp or dry hair to style. How: Spread a dime-size dab or two onto palms and work through barely damp or dry hair with fingers and style; work quickly and try not to overwork; spray down with Tonic Lotion (or Bb.Shine) to rework or to cut hold.
SUMOWAX:
- A traditional hard wax for modern cuts - strong (yet flexible) hold, textural effect and definition of detail - it disciplines heavyweights, yet won’t overwhelm finer types.
- Who: Anyone; a natural for short hair; won’t overwhelm fine hair. When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion, use on dry hair to style. How: Spread a dime-size dab or two onto palms, rub briskly together to warm and soften, or heat by holding a blow-dryer to the mouth of the jar and skimming the top layer. Evenly coat fingers and hands and lightly spread through hair.
STYLING WAX:
- A little gives separation to any cut, and a lot gives sleek grooming with soft, malleable hold (any amount adds shine).
- Who: Anyone. When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion, while styling on damp or dry hair. How: Start sparingly (especially if hair is fine) and build up as needed. Spread a dime-sized dab or two through fingers and work through barely damp or dry hair; use throughout for texture, or just on ends for shape and separation.

- A multi-dimensional styling tool - it gives flexible hold, workability, exceptional memory and can take heat & repeated brushing - on supermodels and non-supermodels alike.
- Who: Anyone. When: Excellent while styling dry hair with heat tools or as a flexible finishing spray.
How: Hold about 10 inches away from hair and spray in fluid, even strokes; when using heat tools, separate hair into sections and mist each just prior to contact; to finish apply evenly to dry and styled hair.
Light hold: DOES IT ALL
- The ultimate session working spray - it gives light hold and subtle degrees of control, plus it helps hair respond to heat tools and gives grip for easier styling.
- Who: Anyone (everyone who’s anyone - it’s a backstage darling of the pros). When: Anytime; after Prep or Tonic Lotion, during styling - layer it on - it’s nearly impossible to use too much.
How: Hold about 10 inches away from hair and spray in fluid, even strokes; when using with heat tools, separate hair into sections and mist each just prior to contact; to finish, apply evenly to dry and styled hair and build as many layers as you need.
EXPLAINING DIVERSION W/ BUMBLE
Visual F/X Salon is an official retailer of Bumble and Bumble products. Our stylists have been educated by the company and know exactly what products are best for your hair because of this. Check out this video made by Bumble & Bumble that explains Diversion, meaning when unauthorized stores sell Bumble products. These locations generally charge MORE for the same products, and the employees are not educated about the products.

A Message from Bumble & Bumble:
We are very careful about where we sell Bumble and bumble, and we choose only the finest salons, apothecaries and shops - places with friendly hairdressers and salespeople who LOVE hair and who LOVE Bumble and bumble. We do this because we make our products to be sold by experts who know our products up and down, backwards and forwards, inside and out.
But sometimes our bottles end up in places that are unauthorized to sell our products. Places we didn’t choose, such as mass market drug and supermarket chains. Its important to us that our customers purchase the real Bumble and bumble (not counterfeit, or old or discontinued Bumble and bumble), so that every time you buy one of our bottles, or tubes or jars, it is filled with the same, authentic stuff for your hair you’ve come to love – we’re sure you will agree.
So, for the love of hair (and Bumble and bumble),
PLEASE don’t buy Bb. where it shouldn’t be.
Thank you!

FIGHT FRIZZ & DRY HAIR
During this time of year many people are fighting to keep their locks soft and silky. The dry weather causes breakage and static, which can make your scalp feel itchy and your hair look damaged and a little like your finger was recently in an electrical socket.
First on your to do list should be to repair the damage already created and protect your hair from future breakage. Come in for a conditioning treatment to moisturize your hair and scalp. We offer a variety of treatments for your hair and skin type. Conditioning treatments are $10 and are easily added on to a cut, color or wash and style appointment.
If your hair and scalp would benefit from more frequent conditioning treatments, we also retail conditioning treatment products from both Bumble & Bumble and KMS. Bumble offers a deep conditioning treatment for seriously dry and damaged hair, and a lighter crème de coco treatment, which leaves your hair silky, soft and glossy. Both priced at $25.
KMS conditioning treatments include a leave-in crème product especially for blonds, which conditions and brightens your golden locks ($17, and we have free samples!), and a moistrepair reconstructing therapy, which repairs, restores and strengthens your hair for $20. Moistrepair also offers a special pack of overnight masks (4 treatments for $30). This mask is infused with aloe and vanilla to leave your hair deeply nurtured, yet weightless, and won’t leave residue on your pillow.
Now to fight that static! KMS flatout line helps to keep your locks straight, glossy and protects them from frizz and static. Start with the shampoo and conditioner ($16 each), then use the straightening crème ($18) when blow-drying to straighten and protect your locks from the damaging heat, and finish it up with the anti-humidity seal ($16) to fight frizz and add lasting shine.
NEW YEAR… NEW HAIR
When ours moods and outlooks on life change we tend to express these emotions outwardly… for example through our hair color. For some it’s instinctual to change their appearances outwardly when changes occur inwardly or in other areas of their lives.
Celebrities often change their hair colors after starting relationships or breaking-up (e.g. Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson) or to assist in mentally and physically preparing for roles. Changing your look can be beneficial in moving on from difficult times or positively preparing yourself for the future.
With the start of a new year and the forming of resolutions you’d like to adopt in the coming year, this is a perfect time to prepare yourself for your 2010 role, whatever that may be. Let this be your motivation for accomplishing your resolution next year. Feeling positive about yourself on the outside can help you feel positive on the inside, and reflect this onto others.
Let your hair color, cut or style represent who you want to be and what you want to accomplish this year. Make an appointment today for your new look and your new outlook. (503) 228-2002.
